Born and raised in the country capital of Gympie and now living on the Gold Coast, Chris Hutchison is at the forefront of the new wave of country music with a grass-roots Australian story, yet a big international sound. Writing and performing behind the scenes, Chris has spent a decade cutting his teeth on stage and in studios, gathering stories and experiences from across Australia.
His debut single The Truth Is Out is an uplifting country-rock anthem, reflecting his life as a single father, countryman, guitarist and musician, fusing the earthiness of country music with a fresh international sound. Collaborating with US drummer Aaron Sterling and co-written with Matt Bartlem, the song chronicles an artist finding his own truth.
“The last decade has been about finding who I am while I worked hard establishing myself as a touring musician,” said Chris. “This new song was written about the breakdown of my relationship which, when it ended, was like a flood gate of emotion that I was able to harness through my music. I have found myself through the songwriting process and it has given me the confidence and strength to let my audience into my world through my music.”
Recorded between the Gold Coast and New York, The Truth Is Out chronicles a self-healing that Chris hopes will connect with audiences going through hardships in their own lives.
